The Hat in Hand glitch is a glitch which makes Mario hold his hat in his hand. It prevents his hat from being blown off while still allowing him to use it if it was a special hat (though note that he still takes damage as if he had no hat entirely), as well as allowing objects to be released from the HOLP remotely.
Activating the Glitch[]
There are two main methods in performing the glitch:
- Regular Hat: Perform the Hat Factory Glitch, in which Mario teleports while his hat is removed, duplicating the hat. Then, run over to where the hats are located and wear them one after the other. Voila - you now have your hat in your hand!
- Special Hats: First, break open a cap block, preferably with a wall nearby. Then, wait for the cap block to respawn, and try to collect the hats one after the other. You now have your hat in your hand!
